Upon successful completion of the class, operators will demonstrate knowledge in the following areas:
3-Day Certified Water Sampling Class (Day 3)
A 3 - Day “Hands On” Class
This class provides accredited classroom instruction in all of the mandated procedures required for
proper collection of water samples in the distribution system. Students will complete basic laboratory
collection procedures in accordance with methods prescribed in Standard Methods for the Examination
of Water and Wastewater.
These include:
• Coliform Bacteria, HPC’s, Temperature, pH, Color, Turbidity and Residual Chlorine.
The class also provides proper instruction procedures for the collection of:
• IOC’s, SOC’s, VOC’s, Lead-Copper, Nitrites / Nitrates and Asbestos.
Instruction in collection procedure will cover:
• The proper selection of container types and sizes from 50 ml to 1000 ml; Sample Preservation Requirements, including refrigeration at 4/C to packing samples with cold packs, and more.
Chain-of-Custody documentation and instruction in current State and Federal regulations will be presented.
All classes will be instructed by experienced working chemists.
A final examination will be administered and a passing grade of 70% must be achieved to pass.
